A complete pack for 12-string acoustic guitars, D’Addario XSABR1047-12 10-47 Light XS 80/20 Bronze Coated strings feature the lush sound of 80/20 (copper/zinc) bronze winding and a carbonised steel core. These strings give the full sound of a guitar an extra boost alongside a clear and outspoken mid-range. Each string has also been treated with a special XS coating: an ultra-thin polymer layer that effectively keeps dirt and sweat out to prevent rust and corrosion, resulting in fresh sound for longer.

I hope these will be good replacement strings for the already-corroded ones that arrived on my new Epiphone? (I'm sure most customers would be glad to pay the £20 extra to avoid the disappointment when opening the guitar box for the first time? Funny the little things you remember about a brand - particularly when deciding which one to go for next time around. Owned by Gibson???????)
Immediate problem is... can I tell the difference between a listed brass-ended 0.58mm G-string and a brass-ended 0.69mm E-string? Or a silver-ended 0.30mm D-string from a silver-ended 0.25mm E-string? Proper colour-coding might have been useful - or tagging them or pairing off in some simple way? What, no micrometer provided?
The rating can only go up, after an hour of 'guess the string', but I'd rather be playing it than having to make it fit for purpose so early in the day. Off to find my very best specs...
